Dwayne needed his action camera wired up. Dwayne, a repeat ENORMIS Mobile Specialties customer and North East resident, recently had ENORMIS install a remote start in his 2018 Toyota Tacoma. When he came to pick up the truck, he asked Doug Reichert, our integration specialist, about the possibility of hard-wiring the action camera that came with the truck.
This Tacoma is the TRD Pro edition and came with an action camera, so the owners can record their off-road adventures. Just one small problem: The GoPro 5 action cam has a rechargeable battery, but it was not always charging. Dwayne, like most of us, wanted his truck to look nice and not have cords hanging all over the place to power the camera. He wanted the camera battery to charge all the time, with all wiring hidden as best as possible.
Doug ordered the necessary parts to step down the truck’s 12 volt power and the appropriate USB-C cable for charging the GoPro. MECP-certified technician Art Dougan completed this installation. Art found the power source and installed the power step-down converter, then ran the 6-foot USB-C cord to power the GoPro completely hidden to the driver. He left a small pigtail in case Dwayne wishes to remove the camera.
