Rich, a first-time ENORMIS Mobile Specialties customer, recently bought a used 2019 Subaru Crosstrek. The Crosstrek only had a couple hundred miles on it, but the passenger airbag indicator was constantly illuminated and the airbag warning light on the dash was on as well. The owners took the Subaru to the dealership, which told them that the passenger airbag presence system in the passenger seat had to be replaced at a cost of $800 in parts! Since the vehicle was in an accident, the repair would not be covered under warranty.
Rich knew the vehicle was in a minor fender-bender, but could not believe that the sensors in the seat needed replacing for that small an impact. He called our store and spoke with Doug Reichert, who was happy to schedule the vehicle. Rich dropped the vehicle off for a few days at ENORMIS.
Guess what? ENORMIS was able to solve the airbag issue without having to replace sensors. Mike Macaluso, our operations manager, was able to recalibrate the existing system sensors and module. He also performed a zero-point calibration on the passenger presence system. This calibration brought the airbag safety system back online and there are no more airbag warning lights.
ENORMIS was able to restore the function of the airbag system for under $200.00! That is a lot less than the $800.00 from the dealer!
