The remote start add-on directly from Ford is only available with an extra remote. The factory Ford Edge remote is already quite large and this North East, PA, resident did not want to carry another remote. No problem. Larry and his wife had just purchased a 2018 Ford Edge. Since winter is right around the corner, they headed to ENORMIS Mobile Specialties for a remote start. They stopped in to speak with Doug Reichert, our integration specialist, to see what options were available.
ENORMIS was able to install our factory remote start, which works from the Ford Edge’s original remote by pressing LOCK 3 times to start or stop – no extra remote needed.
Our MECP-certified technician Art Dougan did an expert job with the installation.Art even used our Ford computer to make sure the Ford remote start features were turned on in the
Edge’s instrument cluster. What does that do? It allows the driver to control how long the remote start will run. It also allows the driver to choose auto climate settings or specific driver settings.
What are auto climate settings? If the vehicle detects cold weather outside, it will automatically turn on the heat and blow air toward the windshield when you activate the remote starter. If it’s hot outside, the system will automatically blow cold air into the cabin. This system operates just as if the Edge came with a remote start from Ford. How cool is that?
