Mike, a repeat ENORMIS Mobile Specialties customer and North East, PA, resident, was considering a remote start for his 2017 Audi A4. Mike is a car guy and ENORMIS had recently installed a genuine Ford remote start in his wife’s 2015 F-150, and a new Kenwood Apple Carplay radio in his Volkswagen R32. This Audi A4 is Mike’s baby and he trusted ENORMIS with it.
Mike was concerned about adding a remote start to such a sophisticated vehicle. He routinely deals with Doug Reichert, our integration specialist, and Doug eased all of his concerns. ENORMIS uses vehicle-specific remote starts and vehicle-specific wiring harnesses when available. In the case of this Audi A4 vehicle, specific wiring was available.
Mike originally selected the OE factory start version 5, with which he would use his existing Audi key fob to start the vehicle (by pressing Lock three times). The OE factory start is a great choice. Pro: no extra remote to carry; con: very limited range.
Doug knew that Mike was an Apple fan. He recommended that Mike choose the smartphone DroneMobile upgrade, which would allow him to start the vehicle from his factory key fob, from his iPhone and even his Apple Watch. His watch? Like James Bond? Yes!
There is more: Another invaluable feature of the ENORMIS Audi remote start installation is that the client can set the heating and cooling options that will occur with the remote start. That’s right: Mike can set his heated seats and HVAC system to come on high when remote started, but only on medium when he starts the vehicle with the push button.
When Mike picked up the Audi, Doug was happy to walk him through the operation of the remote start and show him how to preset his HVAC controls.
