We received an e-mail in March about adding a remote start to her boyfriend’s 2017 Volkswagen Passat push-to-start sedan. She is a Lake City, PA, resident and first-time ENORMIS customer and was looking for a present for her boyfriend, who is currently deployed on active military duty.
Our innovation specialist Doug Reichert contacted Courtney via e-mail with all of her options. Volkswagens and other European models are the most-complex vehicles for adding a remote start. They usually require the customer to relinquish one of their keys for the remote start installation. Well, not for this Passat.

When we told Courtney about the new technology in July of this year, she was put at ease and decided this was the gift she wanted for her boyfriend when he returned home from duty. Courtney decided that the Ataqan remote start, with 3,000 feet of range, would do the trick. The two-way confirmation was the system that would meet his needs.
This remote start works flawlessly with the 2017 Volkswagen Passat electronics. Once the vehicle has been remote started, you walk up to it and press Unlock on the Volkswagen remote, you then enter the vehicle, press the brake and drive away. It’s a seamless takeover. If the heated seats are left on when the vehicle is turned off, these Passat seats will come on with the remote start. The heated mirrors even come on.
